You do not need any relevant education or experience to volunteer with us, our expert staff will get you up to speed.
Volunteer Positions at the Heritage Center
Do you enjoy working with the public and helping others find their way? Our Front Desk Associates make sure our visitors have an enriching experience at the Heritage Center.
Our Front Desk Associates…
- Greet visitors to the museum and have them sign the guestbook.
- Answer questions regarding facilities, locations, and special events.
- Help visitors with gift shop purchases.
- Provide information regarding other points of interest in community.
- Answer and route phone calls to their appropriate recipient.
- View security monitors.
- Supervised by the Education & Volunteer Director.
Do you enjoy sharing Clark County’s rich history and heritage with others? Then consider volunteering as a Gallery Docent!
Gallery Docents…
- Monitor galleries and other public places in the Heritage Center to answer questions and monitor safety and security of our visitors and artifacts.
- Conduct tours as needed, some of which may be pre-scheduled.
- Report to staff any misconduct in museum requiring immediate action.
- Supervised by the Director of Collections.
Would you like to work with original documents and photographs that give us a glimpse into Clark County’s history? Volunteer at our Library & Archives!
Responsibilities:
- Work with our Archivist to serve the public with research requests.
- Work with our curators to maintain historical documents and photographs.
- On occasion, conduct research for exhibit preparation.
- Supervised and trained by the Archival and Curatorial staff.
Do you enjoy hands-on work with physical artifacts like rifles, paintings, and textiles? Volunteer with our Curatorial team to preserve and maintain our historic collection!
Responsibilities:
- Work with curatorial staff to to organize and maintain artifact collections areas.
- On occasion, help prep and setup for temporary exhibits.
- Supervised and trained by the curatorial staff.
If you enjoy immersing yourself in history, then you will love volunteering at the Crabill Homestead. The Crabill Homestead is located on the shores of the Clarence J. Brown Reservoir and is open annually from April to October. Our docents give tours of the household, which was built by David and Barbara Crabill in the early 19th century.
